本製品は、「Waves」と呼ばれる新たなエンジンターニング模様が施された、Conway Stewart Doctor's Penの新バージョンです。最初の限定版Doctor's Penは2022年初頭に完売し、この新モデルは、あらためてDoctor's Penをとのお声を数多くお寄せくださった医療従事者の方々のために開発されました。
本バージョンにも同じ特別な仕様がすべて受け継がれています。キャップとバレルはスターリングシルバー製で、100年近い歴史を持ちながら今なお完璧に稼働する本物のエンジンターニング機械を用いて彫刻が施されています。
新たな「Waves」模様は、光にかざして回すたびにきらめく、まさに荘厳な一本に仕上げています。各ペンにはBirmingham Assay Officeによる完全な英国ホールマークがバレルに刻印され、シルバーの純度を証明しています。
ペンのクリップはRod of Asclepiusを表しています。これは杖に蛇が巻き付いた図案で、ギリシャ神話において治癒と医術を司る神Asclepiusにちなんで名付けられた象徴です。何千年もの間、医療の世界と結び付けられてきました。
キャップの先端には「The Doctor's Pen – Made in England」の刻銘があり、英国生まれであることを証明しています。
シルバーの抗菌特性
シルバーが強力な抗菌作用を持つことは、科学者たちの間で古くから知られています。銀イオンは細菌の細胞膜を貫通し、重要な細胞構成物と結合することで、細菌の増殖を防ぎます。シルバーは創傷用の絆創膏や、菌の伝播を減らすためのドアハンドルのコーティングなどにも広く使われています。そのためDoctor's Penをデザインするにあたり、92.5%がシルバーであるスターリングシルバーを素材として選ぶことは理にかなった選択でした。
